John Duffner, a naval flight officer with Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 126, during a mission aboard an E-8C Joint STARS, Robins Air Force Base, Ga., Jan. 30, 2015. Duffner, from Naval Station Norfolk, flew two missions with Team JSTARS as a liaison officer to learn more about the capabilities of the Joint STARS weapon system and share his experience with his carrier group. During the Composite Training Unit Exercise, JSTARS used their unique Command and Control, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Battle Management capabilities to provide the warfare commander long-range, air-to-surface wide area surveillance to track ground and maritime targets in all weather conditions. Aircrew members from the 116th Air Control Wing, Georgia Air National Guard, Team JSTARS host unit, also flew on board the 30-person crew (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Master Sgt.
