Joint STARS reach 85,000 combat sortie hours
An E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System touches down on the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing’s runway in Southwest Asia after reaching 85,000 hours in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility Aug. 17, 2013. The 7th Expeditionary Airborne Command and Control Squadron has flown the JSTARS an average of 19.4 hours each day since events following 9/11, or the equivalent of being airborne continuously for almost 10 years. Lake Tobesofkee Water Survival Training
Aircrew members from the 116th Air Control Wing (ACW), Georgia Air National Guard, discuss water survival hoist training procedures with Capt. Casey, middle, air intelligence officer with the 128th Airborne Command and Control Squadron, at Lake Tobesofkee in Macon, Ga. Aug. 5, 2013. Upon completion of the training, five aircrew members from the 116th Air Control Wing (ACW), parent to the 128th ACCS, received hands-on training from C Company, 1-111th Aviation Soldiers, establishing the first water survival training between the 116th ACW and the Army National Guard. The ARNG crew was en route to annual training in Georgia and took advantage of the opportunity to stop by the lake and provide the valuable training. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Capt. Lake Tobesofkee Water Survival Training
Lt. Col. Bill, a pilot with the 128th Airborne Command and Control Squadron (ACCS), Georgia Air National Guard, is hoisted into an HH-60/M Black Hawk medevac helicopter by the 78th Aviation Troop Command’s C Company, 1-111th Aviation, Army National Guard (ARNG), during water survival training at Lake Tobesofkee in Macon, Ga. Aug. 5, 2013. Upon completion of the training, five aircrew members from the 116th Air Control Wing (ACW), parent to the 128th ACCS, received hands-on training from C Company, 1-111th Aviation Soldiers, establishing the first water survival training between the 116th ACW and the Army National Guard.
