Joint STARS reach 85,000 combat sortie hours
An E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System touches down on the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing’s runway in Southwest Asia after reaching 85,000 hours in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility Aug. 17, 2013. The 7th Expeditionary Airborne Command and Control Squadron has flown the JSTARS an average of 19.4 hours each day since events following 9/11, or the equivalent of being airborne continuously for almost 10 years.
